Milton Construction: over 40 years of excellence
Words like “Quality” “Integrity” “Excellence” and “Great Communication” have been used to describe the work (and the team) of Milton Construction.
Milton Construction Company is a family-owned and operated business located in central Appomattox, now in it’s second generation of operation.
Todd Milton inherited the company from his father, Ken Milton, who started the business (originally named Bass & Milton Construction) in the late 1970’s with his building partner, Dick Bass. The two would become well known throughout Appomattox County and surrounding areas as good honest businessmen who had a gift for designing, building, and completing beautiful custom homes.
As a teen, Todd learned the skills of the trade during the summers when he worked alongside his father on build sites. After college, and after spending several years working in young adult ministry, Todd returned to Appomattox to work with his father in 2006.
“I heard someone say that once you get sawdust on you, you can’t get it off,” Todd says jokingly about his desire to work in the business once more.
Four years later Todd would take sole ownership - renaming the company Milton Construction. His father, Ken, remained an active consultant for some time before retiring.
Custom Home Remodeling
Though the company has a great reputation in building custom homes, Todd quickly realized that he and his team truly found their niche in custom home remodeling.
The Milton Construction team works together to remodel kitchens, bathrooms, and complete finished basements. They add on (or replace existing) decks and porches. They also offer the completion of home additions (such a mother-in-law suite with full amenities). They often get calls for door replacements or other small projects, and they will gladly fit those into their schedule as time allows, too.
Today, Milton’s team of seven skilled carpenters exclusively works in custom home remodeling. Together, they work to create welcoming spaces for homeowners looking to update their properties.
Craftsmen with Integrity
Todd Milton and his team are not only skilled craftsmen, they are also men of integrity. Todd believes in treating clients, potential clients, and his neighbors as he would want to be treated - and he shares that belief with this crew as well.
The Milton team makes sure that each person who calls to inquire about a remodeling or repair project will promptly receive a call back. Communication is key, Todd says, even if the answer is “we can do that, but we’re booked for months, do you mind waiting?” or “that’s not something our team does, but I’m happy to give you a referral.”
Returning a phone call may seem like a simple task, but anyone who’s ever had to call any type of contractor or repairman knows - a simple returned phone call can make all the difference!
Not only do they communicate well before a project begins, they also keep their clients informed of the progress being made during the remodeling process. After a project is complete they make sure their clients are completely satisfied with their work.
A team who is intentional about excellence
While the team members at Milton Construction Company have extensive knowledge and top notch construction skills, they also have long-standing working relationships with several subcontractors who are experienced in a variety of fields such as roofing, masonry work, vinyl siding installation, electrical work, plumbing, HVAC installation and repair, drywall work, and painting. Todd Milton and his team are intentional about completing a job with excellence, and they hold each of their subcontractors to that standard as well.
For larger projects, Milton Construction is booking clients approximately 6-8 months out. If you are interested in learning more or if you would like a free consultation for a project for your home, church, or workplace, call Milton Construction at 434-352-7065.
You can also learn more and contact the team on their website.
Keep up with Milton Construction’s projects through Facebook and Instagram, too. Though, Todd says calling is the best way to get in touch. Remember to leave a message - because their team is often working out of the office - but rest assured, calling folks back is a priority at Milton Construction!
